Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, & Newborn Care Specialist

When did you do your trainings?

I started by doing my birth doula training in 2010 at MotherTree in Portland, OR. At this same time I was finishing up obtaining my BA degree in Public Health Education at Portland State University.

The postpartum doula training came a bit later- in 2017. After years of offering birth support and even more years of being a nanny and offering childcare to various degrees I realized I had very little knowledge of the postpartum period itself and realized it was time to change that. In 2017 I trained with ABC Doula trainings.

Lastly, I did the newborn care specialist training through Newborn Care Solutions in 2021.

Are you a certified doula?

Yes. For my birth doula work I am certified through PALS and ExpertRating. For postpartum I am certified through ExpertRating and finishing up the certification process through NAPS.

I would like to use my insurance/FSA reimbursement benefits towards doula care. Will your certifications meet the requirement?

Unsure! Reimbursement for doula support is quite new and rules and requirements seem to vary depending on the reimbursing party. My certifications should suffice, but if you plan to submit statements for reimbursement please let me know before our interview and I can guide you on what to ask the reimbursing company to confirm beforehand.

How many families have you supported?

Births: Around 130 families

Postpartum/NCS: I have no idea! I would guess around the 250 mark.

Do you offer overnight postpartum support?

I do not. I offer support as late as 2AM.
